In some properties, yes. A wood burning stove does not necessarily require an existing masonry chimney, as a suitable twin-wall flue system may be installed where appropriate. The flue provides a safe route for combustion gases to escape through the roof or wall, subject to the requirements of the property and appliance. We can assess your home and advise whether a stove and twin-wall flue installation would be suitable.

A chimney liner may be required depending on the condition, construction and suitability of your existing chimney and the requirements of the stove. Lining a chimney can provide a suitable flue route and help ensure the installation meets the relevant requirements. Your chimney and flue should be assessed as part of the installation process so that the appropriate solution can be recommended for your home.

Choosing the right stove size depends primarily on the room you want to heat, the property's insulation and the level of heat required. A stove that is too small may struggle to heat the room effectively, while one that is too large can produce excessive heat and may not operate as intended. We can assess your room and installation requirements and recommend an appropriate stove output. It's also important to consider the type of property, room layout, existing heating and how you intend to use the stove, rather than choosing an appliance based on appearance alone.
